For those that fear the social networks, little can be done in the short term to persuade such groups and only a continued and sustained landslide in use and an expansion in the available applications and uses will, in essence force such groups into the fold in a not too disimilar fashion seen when moving from the typewriter to the pc.


Negative Impact of Social Networks


For those that see the potential uses but still remain skeptical, the primary reason is lost employee productivity, and therefore lost profits. Some studies have suggested that a minority of Facebook users have spent upwards of half their working day on Facebook. What’s worse for employers is that this time is not spent communicating with customers or potential customers, or bettering relationships with suppliers, but communicating with friends.


Most employers would not put up resistance if such activity were directed towards the company’s customers and therefore in it’s benefit and therein lies the problem? Misuse of Facebook
